Spending an afternoon with a budding musician trying to capture the emotions of her debut single.
Amber Elle 2022Amber got in contact with me and asked if I would be interested in trying to capture a Single cover for her, naturally, the opportunity to mix with other creatives from different disciplines is always an exciting thing for me. Based in Vancouver, Ambers's music is a soothing and sensual mix. Her personality exuded from her in the most beautiful way, she’s a fun, creative soul and I can’t wait to see whatever she has planned for us next.
Originally Amber wanted to capture the shoot on film, but when I explained that the majority of the 'feel’ she wanted could be emulated in post-processing, and would save us a ton on printing and developing, we went into her back garden, with the sun shining and got to work.
The shoot was extremely interesting, I sat down with her before I took off my lens cap and asked her a few questions:
What did she want from the shoot?
If she had any particular poses/photos she thought she would like?
Could she play her song in the background while we started the shoot?
Armed with my Sony A7iii and an 85mm we got to work. It was amazingly fun playing creative tennis with a good opponent, suggestions were thrown back with an amazing spin on them, both of us feeding off each other’s intrinsic creativity.
